Bijan Robinson
The Falcons showed their defensive prowess in their inaugural meeting between NFC heavyweights this season. They held Buffalo to under 300 yards while forcing four “three-and-outs.” Our analysis also highlighted Michael Penix Jr’s impressive composure under pressure as he maintained a 97.1 passer rating.
Drake London
The Atlanta Falcons cruised past the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, demonstrating that elite defense can still win championships. Their win marked their first back-to-back wins of 2025 and gave them much-needed confidence heading into Sunday’s tough road game against San Francisco 49ers.
One of the highlights of the game came during the second quarter, when Bijan Robinson set a franchise record by running for an 81-yard touchdown run – it was also one of the longest running touchdowns this season and gave Atlanta a two-score advantage.
Additionally, this play showcased Robinson’s versatility as someone who can make plays both inside and outside of the box.
Drake London had an outstanding game against Buffalo Bills’ secondary, dominating with 10 receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown – surpassing 150 receptions as fast as any Falcon other than Julio Jones or Calvin Ridley had done so far in their careers. This led him to becoming third fastest Falcon to reach this mark!
Matt Ryan appeared to have connected with London for another touchdown pass during the fourth quarter, however due to a questionable call by referee Mark McGough, it was overturned and Buffalo now held possession on downs.
The Falcons are expected to extend Drake London, a top-tier wide receiver on an elite team, shortly. He has lived up to expectations since they selected him in the first round of the 2022 draft; having amassed 309 receptions for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns across four seasons with them. In Week 9 2025 alone he became only second Falcon since Andre Rison (1993) to score four receiving touchdowns in one game.
Not only should the Falcons consider extending London’s contract, but also sign some of their other veteran players to long-term deals. Safety Xavier Watts will reach his fifth year option next season at a cost of approximately $17 million; signing him to new terms could reduce that figure drastically.
Michael Penix Jr.
Michael Penix Jr. is one of the most promising rookie quarterbacks this season, yet his availability remains in question. Ian Cunningham stated at his initial press conference as Falcons General Manager that Penix wasn’t guaranteed as their starting quarterback and that Jaxson Dart, Cam Ward or others may claim that role instead.
Penix was selected first-round by the Washington Redskins in 2021, and in his sophomore season at Indiana he shone as an outstanding quarterback, amassing 2,078 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and only six interceptions compared with 64 attempts for running back yardage and six touchdowns on 64 attempts. A natural leader within his locker room and on the field alike.
His ability to secure ball security and make accurate throws under pressure has given the Falcons hope that they’ll have success this season under him. On Monday Night, he showed poise under pressure while commanding game pace.
In Week 7, Matt Ryan broke 2,000 yard total through nine starts – the most by any Falcons quarterback through their initial nine games ever in franchise history.
Additionally, he became only the second Falcons quarterback ever with 300+ pass yards, 75% completion percentage and two touchdown passes in one game; nine out of 12 passes completed for career-high 291 yards with nine three-and-outs forced against an offense which allowed 5.2 sacks per game entering that contest and four times sacked during that game by Buffalo Bills defense; helping force four three-and-outs while dominating time of possession throughout that game and helping force four three-and-outs before going into overtime!
Dee Alford
Dee Alford signed a three-year deal with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. At 5-11 and 180 pounds, Alford previously spent his four-year NFL career with Atlanta Falcons – making 23 starts over four seasons from 2022-25 – recording 150 tackles, three interceptions, 24 passes defended as well as a sack and six tackles for loss over those years.
Alford made his professional debut via Tusculum University walk-on program before making it as a professional athlete – sharing his story on Maddy Glab’s Inside the Charge segment of Inside the Charge!
The Bills opened up an early lead against the Falcons behind two Josh Allen rushing touchdowns and an excellent showing from their secondary.
Their defense was especially formidable against pass rush, keeping Atlanta off balance all night. With this victory, Buffalo are off to its first 2-0 start since 2021 and now have a slight advantage in playoff contention.
Once they established an early lead, the Bills adjusted to play more of a ground-oriented game by keeping possession for most of the second half. This strategy enabled a balanced attack which gave them an advantage in red zone plays while maintaining momentum; they even outgained Atlanta Falcons in terms of time of possession!
Bijan Robinson ran for an 81-yard run to set a team record, but what really set off this game was Buffalo cornerback Cole Bishop’s unlikely interception of an Atlanta Falcon pass that set up a defensive battle between both teams.
After the game, both teams expressed optimism for the future of their rivalry. The Bills were proud of the effort they displayed against one of the league’s best teams on Monday night; on the other side of the field, Falcons fans celebrated being able to compete with one of its finest clubs. It was an outstanding victory on both sides that put both on the path toward a playoff berth.
