Copa Confederaciones
Since its establishment, FIFA’s Copa Confederaciones tournament has provided multiple prizes to both individual players and teams participating from each continent, along with the world champion.
Since its first tournament held in 1988, organizers have bestowed various rewards on them including one major award:
Botin de Oro>> which went to goleadors scoring most goals during each tournament; plus awards like Campeon of Nations Trofeo de Confederacion are presented as trophies to qualifying individuals and their team which scored most goals during any one tournament they played.
From 2009-13, 9 ediciones of this tournament have produced 380 goals scored during competition. Brazil led with four victories followed by France (two) with Argentina Mexico and Denmark all recording five wins respectively.
Considered one of the world’s premier tournaments, Copa Confederaciones was held every four years until FIFA issued an announcement in 2025 that this event would be replaced by Super Cup Clubes.
This competition boasts an illustrious past. As the inaugural official football tournament organized by FIFA’s Organisation of Ftball (OFF), it took place every three years until 2005 and now every four years. Now, even if they don’t reach the final of the tournament, Champions and Silver & White titles are an incredible reward for winners.
Played prior to World Cup play-offs, Danish selector Richard Nielsen leads an European squad for this competition. Sergio Goycochea, Oscar Ruggeri and Fernando Redondo make up this workgroup of traditional players.
Alfio Basile, one of the greatest game’s coaches, is leading his players. Leonardo Rodrguez, Gabriel Batistuta and Diego Simeone have all become iconic players during this training process;
Mexican Oscar Armando Gonzalez oversees south America while Diego Simeone trains his Latin team; with kick off set for 17:00 hours GMT in Estadio Carlos Belmonte Stadium.
Supercopa
The Supercopa de la Feria — commonly referred to in Spain as Copa Eva de Duarte y Peron — is an annual international club competition held each year.
Unlike FIFA’s FIFA Club World Cup, teams play directly without broadcaster commentary; all previously classified teams in each confederation (from last season’s league tables) participate with two additional spots reserved for top European clubs.
First place teams in each group are usually considered the strongest among them and will contest an opening game, initial turn, and the final contest. Second-placed teams also receive three turns at once in place of seven at any one time during a final contest.
Recently, the Supercopa tournament has gained fame as an action-packed competition between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club have also shown tremendous promise by challenging this status quo and providing fresh faces to the stage.
As part of the 2025 Supercopa tournament, only two matches were hosted at each team’s stadium before moving to neutral venues due to summer transfer window opening up in various leagues and some players being transferred during this season.
On 23 July at Estadio Carlos Belmont Stadium, the final match took place with a vibrant opening and impressive performances by all eight top teams in a full league official match resulting in Barcelona 3-2 beating Atletico Madrid.
