Jalen Duren
Jalen Duren made an impactful statement on one of the NBA’s biggest stages on Friday night despite two of their star players (Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Brunson) sitting out due to suspensions.
Duren made sure his Detroit Pistons’ big man made an impression against an opponent that featured two of their top performers (Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Brunson).
Duren made an impactful performance in Game 1 when he registered 15 points (5-9 FG, 5-6 FT), 12 rebounds and three assists across 37 minutes of action – an effort which led to Cleveland Cavaliers victory by one point 117-113 overtime loss in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Duren then recorded nine points (3 FGs, 3 FTs), five rebounds and four assists across 25 minutes against them on Wednesday in their 117-113 overtime loss during Game 5.
This follows another impressive display against them during Game 1, when he recorded 15 points (5-9FG 5-6FT), 12 rebounds and three assists from 37 minutes on court against them before contributing 25 minutes against them on Wednesday for 25 minutes during this series 117-113 overtime loss by his teammates against Cleveland.
This 22-year-old will become a restricted free agent this offseason, yet is already making his case as one of the NBA’s premier talents. Against the Knicks he had no trouble scoring against every defender brought against him including OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges while holding them to just 8-of-35 3-point shooting with two blocks collected as a result of his stellar play against them. It’s clear from this performance that an MVP award may now become realistically achievable goal for him.
Caris LeVert
Caris LeVert had an impressive debut performance for the Pistons at Madison Square Garden. The second-year guard scored 24 points on 10 of 16 shooting, grabbed four rebounds, and contributed three assists during 31 minutes of action.
LeVert made his case for NBA All-Star honors during an impressive performance against New York without Jalen Duren or Isaiah Stewart due to suspensions, becoming a matchup nightmare for their defenders such as OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges or late addition Jeremy Sochan.

Jalen Brunson
Jalen Brunson is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and raised in Lincolnshire Illinois he attended Adlai E Stevenson High School where he excelled on their basketball team as a standout guard; they went on to capture their inaugural Illinois High School Association Class 4A state title under Brunson’s watch! Additionally he represented United States men’s national basketball team at both 2014 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship and 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Cups, being named tournament MVP both years.
Brunson was selected 33rd overall in the 2018 NBA draft by Dallas Mavericks and played four seasons there before signing as a free agent with New York Knicks in 2022. Since joining them he has become an invaluable member of their current playoff run; later that year he was even named an NBA All-Star!
Brunson has amassed 13.6 points, 4.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game this season while shooting over 40% from three-point range and averaging 4.2 steals per contest – an outstanding stat line from one of the premier point guards in the league that could become an important leader for New York going forward.
Brunson made a name for himself against the Boston Celtics by scoring 25 points and dishing out eight assists during their 126-111 win in Madison Square Garden. This performance cemented Brunson as an NBA MVP contender.
He’s currently the only player in the league with a double-double in every game this season, proving himself as an effective scoring threat while simultaneously creating more scoring opportunities for himself and teammates while restricting opposition team’s entry into the paint.
Tobias Harris
The Detroit Pistons made an impactful statement in one of the NBA’s premier matchups on Saturday, defeating New York 3-0 and handing them their first home loss of 2019. Cade Cunningham led Detroit to a decisive 126-111 win without two key players with 42 points and 13 assists from Cade.
Harris was everywhere on the court, attacking defenders, finding teammates and finishing around the basket. He was particularly effective on defense limiting one of the league’s premier 3-point shooting teams to just 8-of-35 3-point attempts from deep.
Harris made another strong statement regarding his bid for Eastern Conference MVP honors with this performance, averaging 26 points, eight rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game over his last three games.
While not as widely lauded as James Harden or Karl-Anthony Towns, Harris is quickly emerging as a frontrunner for such recognition despite initially declining consideration as such; postgame, Harris told reporters he wasn’t trying to push himself into being considered but wasn’t trying to push away either.
