Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 20 points in eight of nine games this season. His best performance came against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday when he recorded 25 points, five rebounds, seven assists, 10 of 17 field goal makes and six of seven free throw makes for 28 minutes played – an outstanding shot performance as well.

Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma against Houston Rockets with 20 points, followed by Chet Holmgren (18) and Cason Wallace (14).

Oklahoma outscored Houston 34-16 in the fourth quarter to pull away, led by Holmgren who made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points during that timeframe.

Durant was met with harsh booing by Oklahoma City fans still incensed at his departure in 2016, including during pregame introductions and during the first half when he shot an inept 0-for-4 from three-point range.

Gilgeous-Alexander began to emerge in the second half, scoring three 3-pointers before sinking a pair of free throws with just over three seconds remaining in overtime to give Oklahoma City a 125-124 win – marking NBA history by going into double overtime for its inaugural time ever! Oklahoma City went undefeated this season and were recently honored as Rookies of the Month for October by being recognized.

Chet Holmgren

Chet Holmgren is one of the rare players who understands the intricacies of NBA play, playing power forward and center positions while providing his team with enough offense to beat teams like San Antonio.

He is integral to Oklahoma City’s championship vision – one focused on young, athletic players capable of spacing out the floor and handling the ball – which enabled them to build an early 2010s contender before going on to become second youngest championship team ever assembled a decade later.

This spring, the Thunder will have the chance to add another chapter to their legacy when they visit Washington for the first time since winning their 2024 title. This meeting will put this team’s individual qualities on display for all to see while potentially marking a turning point for their franchise.

That is because this is a unique opportunity for the Thunder to show that they belong among modern-day greats.

A team that has shown extraordinary tenacity against critics who doubted its chances and internal bickering that has derailed other talented groups; staying true to Sam Presti’s organizational ethos which prioritizes process and attention to detail has allowed the Thunder to avoid many pitfalls that have derailed other talented squads in the past.

As such, the Thunder are poised to become one of the league’s most compelling stories – featuring an unlikely comeback for an once private and insular franchise as well as the rise of one player who may become one of its most recognisable faces.

Holmgren is a model player whom the Thunder strive to emulate. He’s earned his success through hard work and remaining humble; something Holmgren can look back upon with pride while remaining focused on becoming a better player himself.

Jabari Smith Jr.

The 2025-26 NBA season kicked off with an instant classic at Paycom Center as the reigning champions held off an intense challenge from former teammate Kevin Durant and his teammates to win 125-124 in double overtime – just the sixth time ever and first since 2005 that an opening night game went into extra innings.

Durant led the Rockets with 35 points and nine rebounds, but couldn’t prevent Houston from falling behind early in the second half.

Booed by Oklahoma City fans still upset over Durant’s free agency departure nine months ago, collective pressure eventually overwhelmed Oklahoma City – led by key contributions from Isaiah Joe and Chet Holmgren of course.

Following the contest, both Rockets general manager Rafael Stone and head coach Ime Udoka spoke highly of Jabari Smith’s performance. According to Stone, Smith has become a two-way threat, performing exceptionally in high stakes environments.

The Rockets were given an additional boost by the return of second-year guard Jared McCain, who they acquired via trade with Philadelphia last month. McCain came off late in the first quarter and scored five points over 14 minutes of playing time.

Smith took up most of the ball handling duties after starting point guards Isaiah Joe and Reed Sheppard were absent, yet often struggled to hit long range shots on his own, depending on teammates like Amen Thompson and Alperen Engn to help create efficient shots for him.

Smith hails from Fayetteville, Georgia and attended Sandy Creek High School. As a freshman at Auburn, he led them to their first-ever AP poll number one ranking and SEC regular season championship as a sophomore, being honored as consensus second-team All-American with selection to the USBWA National Freshman Team and Wayman Tisdale Award. Son of Taneskia Purnell and Jabari Smith Sr. and distantly related to former NBA player Kwame Brown; Houston Rockets selected him with their third overall pick in 2022 draft.

Alperen Sengun

Alperen Sengun is a Turkish professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing center on their team. Drafted by Houston in the first round of 2021 NBA draft and selected as member of senior Turkish national basketball team as well.

Sengun stands 6’11”, weighs 243 lb, and his agile big man playing style blends classic post scoring with elite passing abilities refined with drop-steps, spins and court vision. Due to this ability and inspirational journey to prominence; fans have taken to calling him “Michael Jordan of Turkey”.

Sengun has excelled during his second season with the Rockets, averaging 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game – earning Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors as well as NBA All-Rookie Second Team selections. A key young cornerstone for their roster, Sengun recently broke franchise records by becoming the youngest player ever to hit 2,000 points, 1000 rebounds and 500 assists all within five years!

At Sacramento Kings vs Portland Trail Blazers game on Dec 14, he sustained injuries to both ankles and knees resulting in grade 3 ankle sprain and bone bruise. Due to this injury, he could not return to play and was later ruled out for the remaining season.
