QB Jayden Daniels

Daniels had a rocky start to the season, but has found his rhythm since. In each of the last three games and scoring two touchdowns. Furthermore, his average yards per attempt has skyrocketed to an impressive 8.7.

Green Bay made significant strides toward winning the NFC North on Thursday by dispatching Washington Commanders with an easy win, improving to 2-0 on the season and raising their all-time record against them to 23-3.

They started strong by scoring on two touchdown drives covering 90+ yards — Romeo Doubs scored the first one while Josh Jacobs ran in another one to give Green Bay a 14-3 edge at halftime.

After three and outs on their opening drive of the second half, the Commanders marched all the way to Green Bay 49-yard line before an incomplete pass to Dontayvion Wicks was ruled invalid and Jordan Love’s pass to wide-open Matthew Golden fell incomplete in the end zone.

Green Bay’s defense thwarted another Washington drive as Lukas Van Ness tackled Austin Ekeler without gain on second down on second and three plays later, Micah Parsons drawing an illegal hands to the face penalty from Commanders guard Nick Allegretti on third and eight respectively. On fourth down Darian Kinnard blocked Daniels punt at Green Bay 48 forcing three and out.

Green Bay capitalized on their strong field position by scoring three touchdowns during the opening half, including K Brandon McManus’ 52-yard field goal that extended their lead to 27-3 at halftime – marking their largest margin of victory yet.

Their dominance continued into the third quarter when TE Tucker Kraft caught a 5-yard TD off a crossing route before McManus hit another 56-yard FG before two minutes warning. These touchdowns provided all points scored during this decisive final period.

RB Austin Ekeler

Despite losing WR Jayden Daniels early to a shoulder injury, the Commanders were able to maintain some semblance of their running game with Ekeler in the mix. The former Chargers back managed to rush for more than 100 yards and score a touchdown. He ran well in the passing game, too, catching three passes for 86 yards.

Ekeler started the scoring for Washington with a 5-yard run up the middle in the first quarter. His second carry was a 57-yard burst that featured some nice bulldozing action. He would add another rushing touchdown in the second quarter, this time on a 2-yard run. The TD run gave the Commanders some breathing room, making it 17-3 Green Bay at halftime.

After the break, Green Bay moved back into the red zone on its opening drive with a 19-yard pass to Wicks and a 13-yard pass to Doubs.

A fumble by Jordan Morgan on the ensuing kickoff set up an onside kick, which was recovered by Commanders rookie RB Savion Williams. Green Bay took over at the Washington 39 with 10:45 left to play.

The Packers would move ahead 24-3 with a 3-yard TD run by Jacobs and a 6-yard pass to Kraft on the following drive. The TD run pushed Jacobs over 1,000 yards for the season and increased his league-leading total to 15 touchdowns. A sloppy fourth quarter followed.

Green Bay punted after a deep ball to Jacobs was broken up by safety Jabrill Peppers. Then, a holding penalty on Nate Hobbs gave the Commanders a fresh set of downs at their 40.

On the first play of the drive, Aaron Jones threw an incompletion. But, on the next play, Cooper forced Daniels out of bounds on a third-and-9 play and then sacked him for a 13-yard loss. The Commanders threw two incompletes on their next two plays and settled for a 46-yard Matt Gay field goal to narrow the lead to 24-10 with 4:47 remaining in the game.

WR Terry McLaurin

The Commanders were without both their starting running backs in their season opener against the Eagles, so the team may rely heavily on veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin as an offensive weapon in 2018.

McLaurin caught all four targets he faced against them and played an instrumental part in one drive which resulted in a touchdown score – suggesting he will likely continue his strong performance Thursday against their less than stellar opponents. If they want to turn things around quickly they will probably need him on the field more often.

Green Bay scored the only score of the first quarter when quarterback Jordan Love connected with Tucker Kraft on an 8-yard pass to take an early 14-7 lead into halftime. Green Bay’s defense also excelled, with Micah Parsons sacking Daniels for 1-yard loss and Devonte Wyatt breaking up a third-and-9 pass intended for Noah Brown by Green Bay defensive end Micah Parsons respectively.

After going three-and-out, the Packers advanced deep into Washington territory on their next possession; however, due to a bad snap resulting in an incomplete pass play and onside kick recovery by Commanders.

On their next possession, the Commanders drove down to the 3-yard line before being forced to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Brandon McManus.

Following that drive, their offense seemed stuck in neutral for much of the fourth quarter; despite missing both starting running backs, however, Daniels delivered a 20-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz to even out the score at 17-17.

The final drive of the game began with the Commanders looking to run down the clock, led by RB Josh Jacobs’ 11-yard run which set up first and goal at the 3-yard line. Although Jacobs lost some yards due to an injury on this play, Green Bay defense held strong and forced a three-and-out.

Off of their subsequent kickoff kickback kickoff drive they drove quickly down field until reaching Washington 10-yard line before quickly three-and-outed them again before driving towards Washington 1-yard line where RB Jonathan Jones scored on 2-yard run run RB Jonathan Jones scored on 2-yard touchdown run on this two yard play.

TE Zach Ertz

After an uneven start, Green Bay used two touchdown drives to build an 18-3 advantage at halftime. Romeo Doubs scored his first TD while Josh Jacobs scored on both trips – both drives covering 90+ yards to give them an early advantage.

Green Bay extended its lead with a 56-yard field goal by kicker Brandon McManus in the third quarter, which tied Mason Crosby’s record of longest field goal made during a regular-season game by a Packer player. Washington was then shut down by Green Bay’s defense; safety Nick Nixon blocked an attempted pass intended for Doubs while cornerback Nate Hobbs sacked Daniels on third down for good measure.

Green Bay started their fourth quarter possession off right, taking advantage of Jordan Morgan’s 31-yard punt return and driving the ball all the way back to Washington 47 following Love’s pass to Tucker Kraft who beat Washington Commanders coverage into the flat and caught a 20-yard pass for a first down.

Green Bay quickly responded with a seven-yard touchdown run by rookie running back Savion Williams, who managed to slip by one of his opponents into the end zone.

Meanwhile, Green Bay’s defense held off Commanders on their next series as linebacker Quay Walker sack Daniels without incurring any yardage loss and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt forced an incompletion play that led directly to an incompletion play resulting in an incompletion for Green Bay on third down play.

Green Bay made one last charge into the red zone on their final play of the game and connected with tight end Zach Ertz for a touchdown on a short slant pass from Jayden Daniels – Ertz recorded five consecutive catches, stretching his franchise-best streak of four games! Ertz now has 106 receiving yards this season and stands alone as eighth in league receiving leaderboard among tight ends; additionally he scored in every AAF game this year making him a great dynasty league option however this offseason when free agents will become available due to player contracts expiring.
